Summary
One of twenty five carved wooden armorial shields, hung on two brass hooks and painted with the coat of arms of the Pringle family. Argent on a saltire engrailed sable five scallops or (silver shield on which is a black diagonal cross with engrailed edges, on which in turn are five gold scallop shells) (in chief a fox's mask of the second). Inscribed - PRINGLE (hand written in pencil on back). 1960 (circa).
Provenance
Made circa 1960. Owned by Sir Arthur Paul Benthall (1902 – 1992). Bequeathed to The National Trust in the will of Sir Arthur Paul Benthall dated 28th July 1983. Accepted for ownership by The National Trust in 1993 following the death of Sir Arthur Paul Benthall in 1992.
