Summary
Print, lithograph, West Room at Benthall Hall, Shropshire by J. C. Bayliss (fl.1866 - d.1886/7). An oak panelled room heavily carved and with elaborate strapwork plaster ceiling. Depicts a family scene at meal time, figures seated around the fire and table. Inscribed - From a drawing by J.C.Bayliss....Benthall Hall, Shropshire. Day and Son Lithrs.to the Queen (printed). 1800 - 1900.
Provenance
Drawn by J.C. Bayliss circa 19th Century. Owned by Mary Clementina Benthall (1879-1960) and recorded in the 1957 list of pictures, furniture etc suggested for retention at Benthall Hall by the National Trust. Transferred to the ownership of the National Trust with the contents of Benthall Hall in the Deed Of Gift made by Mary Clementina Benthall and dated 8th August 1958. Recorded in the Inventory Of National Trust Property At Benthall Hall dated 1st October 1963.
