Summary
Biscuit porcelain full-length figure of Thornton Benthall, seated in an armchair, hands resting on thighs and wearing a jacket, waistcoat and tie. Impressed on the underside with two egg-shaped symbols, Thornton Benthall (written in pencil) and P....BETH R.M.B. (written in ink). Made Circa 1835 - 1840.
Provenance
Made circa 1835-40. Owned by Sir Arthur Paul Benthall (1902 -1992). Transferred to NT with house in 1958. Recorded in the Inventory Of National Trust Property At Benthall Hall dated 1st October 1963. Recorded on page 22 of the Sotheby's Inventory and Valuation of Benthall Hall dated July 1992.
