Summary
An off-cut from the Grand Staircase carpet. A modern carpet with a main field of red with pattern of large four-petalled flowerheads flanked by a yellow shape and yellow diamond shapes flanked by light blue garlands of berries; surrounded by an abstract pattern containing mirrored scrolling shapes. Main border with blue ground has green and red diamonds alternating with flowerheads and branches. Two guard stripes either side of the main border, with light blue serrated line of pattern on blue ground. The carpet design was developed with David Luckham in 1999 together with Axminster Carpets specifically for the Grand Staircase at Lyme.
Provenance
Purchased for the Grand Staircase at Lyme to be in keeping with the early twentieth century setting of the house. The carpet design was developed with David Luckham together with Axminster Carpets specifically for the Grand Staircase at Lyme.
