Summary
Grand pianoforte inscribed on the fascia Patent Erard London. Serial number 12294 (date of manufacture 1870). The case veneered in figured walnut resting on three turned and tapered hexagonal legs. The keyboard compass AAA – a4. The instrument fitted with a modified version of Erard’s patent (1821) repetition action, and a metal hitch plate and braces. Pedal lyre with two pedals, the left for una corda/due corde and the right for dampers. Fitted fretwork music desk and hinged lid prop-stick to interior.
Provenance
The piano when it was gifted by Miss Lewis, was initially at Attingham Park before it came to Lyme.
