Summary
A black leather dog collar with circular and square brass studs, a brass lead D-ring and a brass plaque with the inscription 'LORD NEWTON / LYME PARK'. It is possible that this is the collar worn by Lion, one of the last of the Lyme Mastiffs, as depicted in his portrait on the Grand Staircase (LYM.P.091).
Provenance
This collar was probably made for, and worn, by one of Lyme's last Mastiffs owned by Lord Newton. It is possible that it is the collar worn by Lion, as depicted in his portrait on the Grand Staircase.
