Summary
An early nineteenth century, eight-day English spring clock with automata, in a mahogany case on fluted bracket feet with fish-scale side frets and arched top. The re-painted dial is signed 'Willm. Hodsoll, London'. The automata in the arch shows a man shooting a bird.
Provenance
Bequeathed for display at Lyme Park by Major the Hon. Sir Francis Legh, on his death in 1984. Part of an important collection of clocks acquired by Major the Hon. Sir Francis Legh (1919-1984), the youngest son of the Third Lord Newton.
