Summary
A carved and parcel gilt walnut duet stool, six cabriole legs on whorl feet (scrolled and set upon a conical base). The knee of each end leg has a male masque with a pendant of acanthus leaf and flower heads, with further acanthus above the whorl foot. Two middle legs have a less pronounced knee with acanthus leaf and patera and pendant of acanthus leaf and flower heads. Serpentine front and side rails; the front rail has a central pierced plumed coronet flanked by scrolling acanthus leaves. Side rails have a central pierced section of scrolling acanthus leaves flanking a central heart motif. Double 'X' framed stretcher with carved flower heads and 'C' scrolled leaves. Serpentine seat upholstered in damask of lemon ground (which becomes cream towards on end) with gold and pale pink flowers and scrolling branches, gold braiding to edges.
