Summary
An open armed giltwood fauteuil in the French Louis XVI style on four tapering fluted legs on tapered square feet, straight arms with upholstered arm rests and scrolled ends, curved arm supports. Large carved acanthus leaf to base of arm support and spiral ribbon-carving to the rest. Egg-and-dart moulding to seat rail and side rails; each corner of seat rail where it meets the side rail there is a flower within a square. Oval chair back with carved motif of laurel leaves and central ribbons on top rail, moulded back uprights with a running band of paterae and graduated flower heads to bottom of uprights. Semicircular shaped seat upholstered in satin damask of oyster ground with neo-classical print in cream and light green of central scalloped edge patera with swags, scrolling acanthus and gadrooned urns.
