Summary
Donor's flat ceiling paintings: The ceiling is partly decorated with strapwork panels believed to date back at least as far as the early seventeenth century. The motive behind this decoration is unclear, but it is probable that it depicts the coat of arms of some of Sir Erasmus Dryden’s friends and relatives. Despite the ravages of time the arms of a number of local families can still be deciphered. These include Stafford of Blatherwick, Wake of Courteenhall, Knightly of Fawsley and Montagu of Boughton.
Provenance
Part of the fixtures and fittings of the House transferred from the Dryden's to the National Trust in 1980/81
