Summary
A set of six hand-beaten plates made in Britannia silver and marked with the sponsor's mark of Louis Osman, 1973, London, Britannia standard.
Full description
The goldsmith and architect Louis Osman (1914-1996) was a tenant at Canons Ashby between 1968 and 1980. As seen in these plates and the associated charger (NT 494804), Osman preferred a hand-made, textured surface finish, sometimes leaving tool marks visible. These plates are believed to have been made for his personal use rather than commission.
