Full description
Flintlock pocket pistol with turn-off barrel, circa1810, signed Burgess (probably Hartley Burgess, Bartholomew Street, Birmingham 1807 – 1811). Barrel: Round iron turn-off barrel formed with barrel key lug and stamped with the numeral 1. Barrel length 4.5cm Calibre 8mm. Walnut grip of slab-sided form. Iron box-lock frame of common form with integral breech (breech stamped with the numeral 1). The sides engraved with swags, the left side signed BURGESS. Enclosed flintlock action with centrally mounted cock and frizzen. Top mounted sliding safety catch which also locks the frizzen. Loop-shaped trigger guard. Frizzen spring missing. Overall length 16.5cm
