Summary
One of two similar walnut-veneered chairs, English, late 19th/early 20th century, in George II style. This chair with an undulating toprail carved with a scallop shell, and with shaped uprights flanking a solid scroll-tipped baluster-shaped splat. The brown silk velvet-covered seat pad in shaped seat rails and raised on a pair of cabriole legs headed by acanthus and scroll-carved knees and with hairy paw-carved feet.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust in 1990.
