Summary

A dark-stained ash skein or lace bobbin winder, British, 19th century. The table fitted with two turned posts, one carrying the solid, moulded wheel fitted with a knob, the other carrying the bobbin holder. A swiveling vertical axis skein winder fitted to one corner of the table. The cross bar lacking.

Provenance

Canons Ashby, The Dryden Collection (acquired with the help of the National Heritage Memorial Fund) and transferred to The National Trust in 1981. .
