Summary
Solid silver wine jug elaborately decorated with classical masks surrounded by folliage, peacocks and other birds. A female bust decorates the handle. The style of decoration is in the Rococo Revival style of the late 19th century. The decoration seems to have been obtained by chasing as the reverse side has been worked. Possibly flat chasing or repousse work. Maker's mark - GF and S. 1870 - 1900

An item from the Llanerchaeron collection, left to the National Trust in the will of John Powell Ponsonby Lewes in 1989.
