Summary
A photograph on card of an elaborate covered staircase with writing in pencil on bottom left 'Norman Staircase Canterbury'. This is probably the best preserved Norman staircase in England. It originally gave access to the High Hall (also known as the Aula Nova, North Hall, or Hog Hall), a guest house for pilgrim visitors. When much of the Hall was demolished in the 18th century, and more in the early 19th - the staircase fortunately survived.
