Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Anne Sophia Blathwayt, Mrs Thomas Curtis (1802-1861) by William Egley (Doncaster 1798 – London 1870). 1833. Rectangular. Half-length portrait of a lady, facing, gazing at the spectator, seated in a red chair, in a dark blue dress and fur-trimmed cloak, bare shoulders. Grey eyes, light brown waved hair, fresh pink complexion, aged about 25. Plain buff background. Signed and dated William Egley, 1833.
Provenance
Indigenous collection purchased by Ministry of Works in 1954 and given to Dyrham Park in 1961.
