Summary
Gouache on ivory, The Artist's Wife: Marie Ann Révérend, Madame Antoine Vestier, by Antoine Vestier (1740-1824). Full length, standing, facing, a small knife in her right hand with which she is cutting a monogram on the trunk of a tree at the left of the picture; she wears a white dress trimmed with lace and violet ribbons, and white ostrich feathers on her powdered hair; right, a trellis and urn, and a little white dog at her side. Marie Ann, daughter of Antoine Reverend, an enameller in Paris, married Antoine Vestier.
