Summary
A large Victorian vase-shaped ewer on circular foot chased with masks and foliage. The body of baluster form, the lower part chased with masks on strap work with foliage between on matted ground. The upper part elaborately chased with a portrait medallion in a laurel wreath with two coats-of-arms and applied coronets and with a Latin inscription. The neck with fruit and foliage and an applied female mask below the lip. The handle of open scroll form. Maker Robert Garrard and dated 1838. An extant bill for £200 plus £2.5.0 for inscription dated 1838.
