Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, Peregrine Cust, M.P. (1723-1785) attributed to Ozias Humphry RA (Honiton 1742 – London 1810).,Circular. Head and shoulders turned to the right, gazing at the spectator, in a plum-coloured coat. Grey eyes, powdered wig, pale (very faded complexion). Drab background, darker to the left. (damaged). Peregrine Cust was the son of Sir Richard Cust, 2nd Bt. (1680-1734) and Anne Brownlow (1694-1779) . He was a London merchant and was MP for Bishop's Castle, 1761-8; Stockton 1768-74, Ilchester 1774-5 and Grantham, 1776-80. He died on 2 January 1785, without issue
