Summary
Painted plaster, Adelbert Wellington Brownlow Cust, 3rd Earl Brownlow, GCVO, PC, MP (1844-1921) standing beside 'Queen Bess', Sir Joseph Edgar Boehm, RA (1834-90), 1871, inscribed ‘BOEHM’ by horse’s back foot, proper left. The plaster is painted dark green and is extensively damaged. The head and tail of the horse have been broken off and there are numerous chips.

This painted plaster cast is for Boehm’s bronze statuette of Adelbert Wellington Brownlow Cust, 3rd Earl Brownlow, standing beside his favourite hunter, ‘Queen Bess’ (NT 435418). The bronze was produced in 1871. Alice Rylance-Watson September 2018

Purchased 1871 by Adelbert Wellington Brownlow Cust, 3rd Earl Brownlow (1844-1921). Purchased with a grant from the National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF) from Edward John Peregrine Cust, 7th Baron Brownlow, C. St J. (b.1936) in 1984.
