Summary
Pencil on thick stiff paper, Woman with a Lute by Louisa Anne Stuart, Marchioness of Waterford (Paris 1818 – Ford 1891). Folded twice down its length, and marked with brown mould. Half-length of a female figure, cut off horizontally, although the lower arms and lute show below this. The effect is as if she is playing the instrument over a wall. The background is made up of tree branches covered in leaves.
