Summary
Watercolour and bodycolour on paper, Harvest Rites by Louisa Anne Stuart, Marchioness of Waterford (Paris 1818 – Ford 1891). Two youths in knee length white tunics carry two huge bunches of grapes, tied together and slung over a pole between them. They walk towards the front left corner of the picture, behind them, on a different level, is a group of three people, with only their upper bodies visiblethe first one carries a basket before her, another a green object on her head, the third is just a head peeping through the space between. The sky forms the only background, it is in blue with soft red strokes. Date - ca 1850s
