Pencil on thin ivory paper, Anacreon's figure of Eros as a blacksmith forging his soul and terrifying it in icy torrents by Louisa Anne Stuart, Marchioness of Waterford (Paris 1818 – Ford 1891). Description - A winged, male figure, standing and turned partially to his left. In his right hand he holds an arrow steady on a small flat raised area. There is a good deal of unintelligible work outside of this. Literary reference - 'Once again Love has struck me like a smith with a great hammer and me in the wintry torrent.'
