Summary
Pencil with black water colour on thin buff paper, pasted onto blue card a fine line in brown ink drawn on the buff paper frames the picture, Sibyl with a kneeling figure by Louisa Anne Stuart, Marchioness of Waterford (Paris 1818 – Ford 1891). Description - A large sibyl, squatting with her legs turned forwards, one knee up and the other down, her torso twisted to her left as she points off to the right with her outstretched left arm. Her other arm rests on her raised left knee. Coming between her arms, a young woman/man kneels beside her, with their head resting on the sibyl's lower arm as if to kiss it. Separate, on the extreme right is a sketch of a woman in long robes. Date - post 1870.
