Summary
Watercolour on paper, Preliminary Study for Saint John the Evangelist, Lady Waterford Hall, Ford, Northumberland by Louisa Anne Stuart, Marchioness of Waterford (Paris 1818 – Ford 1891), circa 1870. Full-length male figure in a niche, wearing a tunic with one shoulder exposed. The figure looks upwards, towards the left. Holding a fishing net in his left hand, this arm hangs by his side, his right arm extends across his body to meet it. The final version has the figure turned to the right.
