Summary
Watercolour over pencil on paper, Study for the mural of Daniel and the Three Children, Lady Waterford Hall, Ford, Northumberland by Louisa Anne Stuart, Marchioness of Waterford (Paris 1818 – Ford 1891). Description - Scene is set within a pointed arch. It is not detailed, evidently being a plan for positioning of figures in the fresco. On the left Daniel stands behind three seated children with books on their knees. Another child comes in from the right bearing a tray. Daniel dismisses him with his left hand. His right hand rests on the shoulder of the child on the right of the group, so that he and the children form one solid group. A surround is also given the left side is filled with horse chestnut leaves, the right with brown strokes in the final composition these have become branches. The placing of medallions is indicated, but there is no detail. Ca 1870
