Mezzotint, John Manners, Marquess of Granby (1721-1770), engraved by James Watson (c. 1740-90) after Sir Joshua Reynolds PRA (Plympton 1723 - London 1792), sold by Ryland and Bryer (active 1765-72), c. 1766-70. A mezzotint after the full-length portrait of John Manners, Marquess of Granby, by Joshua Reynolds (Royal Collection Trust, RCIN 405894). The Marquess of Granby in the uniform of a colonel of the Royal Regiment of Horse Guards, his left arm resting on the flank of his bay horse which is held by an unidentified groom wearing a turban. The Battle of Villinghausen (1761) generally assumed to be depicted in the background.
