Red leather brass-hinged portrait miniature oval case with white silk lining. Holds portrait miniature (429008.1), watercolour on ivory, Colonel John Viney-Evans (1794-1834). Oval. Colonel John Viney-Evans of 29th Regiment. Viney-Evans was Lady Beaconsfield's brother. Shoulder-length, wearing red uniform with high collar, white sash and gold buttons. Glazed in gilded frame. Braided hair set in blue glass reverse of miniature.
