A pair of ash and beech 'lath back' Windsor chairs, High Wycombe, circa 1870. Each with curved bar toprail and four vertical uprights flanked by outer posts with ball-turned capitals, the elm seat on ring-turned legs joined by stretchers and with tapering foot.
Full description
This was one of the most common type of the Wycombe made chairs, made by many of the manufacturers. An example of this design can be seen in the trade catalogue of Walter Ellis, chair manufacturer of High Wycombe, circa 1870 (kept at High Wycombe Chair Museum).
