Full description
Small chairs of this and similar design were produced in their thousands during the second half of the 19th century in both England and France. The design originates in the 1830s as seen in the 'Album de I'Industrie et des Arts utiles' by Le Bouteiller (referenced by C.Payne in '19th Century European Furniture', 1989).
