Louisa Mary Carrington (d.1830) or possibly Rachel de Crasto, attributed to Richard Cosway RA (Tiverton, Devon 1742 - London 1821). A half-length portrait, three-quarter face, seated at a table, looking to her left, pencil in her right hand. Mounted and glazed in plain rounded gilt frame. on a small slip of paper: Drawn by H. Stubble/Miss Louisa Carrington/Sister [?] [or fecit?].[May?] ...; and on the later executors' label: 59 Miss Rachel de Crasto the only child of the sister of Lord Beaconsfield's grandfather - a coloured pencil portrait by H. Stubble
Provenance
Recorded by Disraeli in June 1879 in what he called the 'Family Room' as: "Drawing of Miss de Crasto by Stubble"; and as the same in the posthumous inventory of 1881, as no.59 (though by then the room had reverted to being called the 'Yellow or State Room'.
