Summary
A funerary hatchment decorated with the coat of arms of one member of the Shirley family. The shield is supported by a red stag and a white dog and is surrounded by an ermine lined red cloak. The motto 'HONOR VERTUTIS PRAEMIUM' is written underneath in black letters on a white background. The motto in English translated from Latin means 'Honour is the reward of valour'. The shield is divided into two halves. The background is painted black and the frame is made from mauve velvet with a gold inner edge.
