Full description
Large Eastern percussion pistol of crude construction, 19th century, possibly India. Round iron barrel with chiselled decoration to the top and slightly flared at the muzzle. Bead foresight. Nipple bolster on right side of breech. Retained to the stock by two large iron barrel bands. Steel ramrod with brass tip. Barrel length 34.5 cm. Calibre 17mm. The metal worn and pitted. Wooden full stock of crude construction. Forestock inset either side with brass diamond shaped panel. Cross-shaped brass panel behind barrel tang. Large brass pommel, brass fore-end cap and iron trigger guard of crude form. Percussion lock of crude construction and form. Retained to the stock by 1 sidenail. The metal worn and pitted.
