Summary
Silver plated ceremonial trowel used by Lady Georgina Vernon on 31st May 1883 when laying a memorial stone of the nave of St. Mathews Church, Astwood Bank. Inscribed 'Presented to the Lady Georgina Vernon on the occasion of her laying the Memorial Foundation stone of the Church of St. Mathisa and George, Astwood Bank, Feckenham, 31st May 1883'. On the reverse of the knife are the following words, 'The Memorial Stone of the Nave was also laid by Lady Georgina Vernon on 6th June 1911'. The knife is heavily decorated with stylish ivy leaves. The knife is displayed in a maroon leather case lined with blue velvet and silk and has an ivory handle.
