Summary
A British naval officers sword with sword knot. Gilt-brass hilt of Gothic flair forming a half-basket with a cartouche containing a fouled anchor and crown. The inner side of the guard is hinged so that it can be folded down to engage with a pin on the scabbard top mount. The grip is covered in large-nodule white shagreen and has a brass pommel in the form of a lion. The sword knot cord is gold with a navy-blue fleck and features a loop and knots. The sword blade has some corrosion.
