Summary
A British pattern 1912 cavalry officer's sword with leather sword knot. The 1912 pattern sword was essentially the same as the 1908 pattern but featured more decoration. The bowl shaped guard features an engraved floral pattern that was designed to mimic the honeysuckle pattern that was seen on officer’s swords in the 19th century. Cast nickel pommel and a fish skin grip with wire binding. The blade and bowl appear to have been plated for ceremonial use.
Provenance
Purchased from the estate of the late Lord Wraxall with the assistance of the NHMF and donations from members and supporters.
