Summary
A brass inkstand. Brass, bronze-effect, rectangular inkstand, with four circular petal feet and two foliage side handles. With two circular rims at the back for inkwells and a fixed central brass bowl with a gadrooned lid with flame finial. A concave depresiion at the front for pens. Two cut-glass inkwells with lids. Two pens with nibs: one with a brown wooden handle; one with a painted lacquer handle in red, green and black- with an integral letter-opener. 19th Century.
Provenance
Part of the Lothian Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust by Philip, 11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940).
