Summary
A walnut and ebonized inlaid sewing table, English, circa 1850. With a hinged top inlaid with a classical geometric banding above a fabric work bag. With four barley twist supports and twin end block stretchers joined by a further central pierced stretcher. With scrolled feet and castors. Green silk velvet bag ruched and stuck to wooden frame - braid and tassels.
Provenance
Belonged to Mr & Mrs Sterndale Bennett 19th century musician and composer of religious music. Given to the National Trust in 1970 by Mrs Cook who is the great grand-daughter of the Sterndale Bennetts.
