Summary
Memorial plaque dedicated to Lady Hilaria Gibbs (1908-2009). Hilaria was the eldest daughter of the 6th Earl and Countess of Mount Edgcumbe who transferred Cotehele house and estate to the National Trust in 1947. It is diamond-shaped and made from Delabole slate (North Cornwall). The inscription reads: "In memory of Lady Hilaria Gibbs 1908-2009 / Eldest daughter of Kenelm & Lilian sixth Earl and Countess of Mount Edgcumbe / She loved Cotehele".
Provenance
Lady Hilaria was affectionately known as 'Lady H' by Cotehele's staff and volunteers. She lived in Cotehele House for a short time following the Second World War, but maintained an active interest in the whole estate throughout her life.
