Summary
Ghiordes prayer rug, described by Dr. Mills as 'A Ghiordes prayer rug of typical design in the usual pale colours. Has been cut and rejoined for unknown reasons though not much has been lost. Fairly worn all over.' Possibly one of two indigenous carpets in the house. The 1956 probate/inventory valuation describes a rug in the Red Room: 'A Persian rug conventionally patterned on a red ground. Size 82 by 56 inches. Cut at both ends. £5'.
