Full description
“Transition” type percussion revolver, c1850, English, unsigned. Octagonal iron barrel section secured to the lock frame by a retaining screw. Stamped with Birmingham 1813 proof marks. Barrel length 12.7cm. Calibre 9mm. Round 6-shot cylinder bored from a single block of iron, each breech inset with a percussion nipple and stamped with Birmingham 1813 proof marks. Engraved iron frame with a bell shaped flashguard, the frame housing the double-action lock mechanism. The rear of the frame formed with long upper and lower tangs forming a support for the wooden grips. Top mounted bar- type percussion hammer. Iron loop shaped trigger guard and a curved trigger. Walnut two-piece chequered grip with a central screw fixing. Overall length: 30cm
