Summary
Blotting pad with blotting paper and notepaper. Black satin square base embroidered with alternate blocks of solid straight stitch and chequered squares. All in laid gold thread. A lift-up satin lid also embroidered with laid gold thread... a Greek key pattern surrounding a bird with spread wings and red bead eye amongst a turmoil of leaves, flowers and other swirling shapes. Below are waves or hillocks on a solid gold thread base. The lid is lined with corded mauve watered silk and has a pocket for reminder notes.
