Summary
Barstow's patent water filter decorated with white glazed labels on a buff coloured glaze. Height includes lid. Made by Ferrybridge - a Yorkshire pottery associated with Wedgwood. A billhead in 1896 reveals that the company's filters were awarded many prizes in exhibitions from 1893 onwards. As well as winning gold and silver medals in Britain they also exhibited in Holland, Belgium and Java.
Provenance
Acquired by the National Trust in 1980 as part of the transfer of the estate, house and collection of Baddesley Clinton from Mr Ferrers-Walker.
