Full description
Leather case holding travelling writing equipment, rectangular with top stitched leather handle. Leather strap over top flap, through keeper and on to metal lock (key in white bag hanging on outer case). Inverted shield shaped metal clasp stamped; ASPREY / 166 BOND STREET. Circular lower part of metal lock stamped; ASPREY PATENT . Below lock stamped in gold Gothic script; G.A.G. Rectangular base of case is reinforced allowing either side of case to open flat on to table top. Inside is black leather with blue satin and velvet lining. Inside upper flap stamped in gold; ASPREY, MAKER, 166, BOND ST AND 22, ALBERMARLE ST. Below are two blue satin lined flaps designed to cover ends of items that slide into two small and one large keeper. Back of case provides backing for a full length lockable rectangular box lined in blue velvet and divided in half by leather section. With gussetted section containing on front two flapless sections with two blue satin lined flaps covering a now missing central strip for paper notes. Adjacent are two smaller identical flaps covering six keepers. Below second set of flaps is one with a tab covering a blue velvet lined box. Adjacent to flaps is a full length rectangular box opened by a push button, lined in black leather; reinforced rectangular base of case with lid lifted by a tab but secured by a metal catch, revealing another rectangular, black leather lined box with keeper to store a ruler. Front of case provides backing for, from bottom to top, gussetted section with open ended keeper on front. Adjacent is a full height rectangular box accessed by push button a tabbed flap, box lined in blue satin and divided into five by leather walls. Adjacent is an open ended keeper with imprint of scissors beneath. Behind this section is a gussetted section, cream lined.
