Provenance: armorial bookplate of Robert Philips featuring a lion [= Robert Philips (1794-1853), father of Frances Elizabeth Philips, first wife of Rev. Wynter Thomas Blathwayt (d.1869)] Binding: nineteenth-century tan leather over boards; blind-tooled diaper pattern to upper and lower covers with gold tooled double fillet border; yellow, green, red and blue marbled edges and endpapers; gold tooled board edges; floral gold tooling to spine; red leather spine label with 'Le Mie Prigioni' lettered in gold; 'Londra 1840' lettered in gold directly on tail of spine.
