Provenance: contains armorial bookplate of Wynter Blathwayt [= Rev. Wynter Thomas Blathwayt (1824-1909)], with central eagle motif and surrounding motto 'virtute et veritate', with added manuscript date of 1840. Binding: nineteenth-century parchment binding over boards; simple double fillet gold tooled border on upper and lower covers; 'King Edward School Bruton' lettered in gold directly on upper cover; decorative printed paper endpapers; gilt edges; red leather spine label with 'Lardner on the steam engine' lettered in gold.
