2v., plate :. front. (port.) ;. 8vo. Acquired by the National Trust with other former Dyrham books in April 2022. Provenance: presentation inscription in each volume to L. Philips [possibly = Laetitia Philips (nee Hibbert], mother of Frances Elizabeth Philips, first wife of Rev. Wynter Thomas Blathwayt (d.1869)]. Volume 1 inscription reads 'Given to L. Philips on her marriage by [Anna Marie?], & bequeathed to Frances Elizabeth Blathwayt. Given to Wynter Blathwayt 9th November 1869'. Binding: nineteenth-century green leather over boards; gold and blind tooled borders on upper and lower covers; gold tooling to spine and board edges; pink silk pastedowns; gilt book block edges; 'Tasso' and volume number lettered in gold directly on spine.
