Provenance: printed armorial bookplate of George William Blathwayt tipped in on front pastedown [= Col. George William Blathwayt (1797-1871)]; inscription in black ink on title page: 'Charles Blathwayt' [possibly = Charles Pye Blathwayt (1828-1920), George William Blathwayt's son, or Rev. Charles Blathwayt (1800-1874), George William Blathwayt's brother]. Binding: nineteenth-century leather over boards with unusual brown and blue marbling; gold tooled quadruple filled border with additional floral border on upper and lower covers; gold tooling to spine and board edges; marbled book block edges; marbled endpapers in rust, black and blue; black leather spine label with 'Beattie's Minstrel' lettered in gold.
