Presented to Sir Douglas Galton by the Sindaco of Florence - Marchese Pietro Torrigiani September 1891. Sir Douglas Galton went out in September 1891 at the request of the Municipality of Florence to make a report on the drainage of Florence and he remained with Evelina Fenzi at the via della Porte Nuove for 4 weeks. A beautiful room in the Palazzo Vecchio was given him for his office during that time." Provenance:Insertion - Bonhams Lot Ticket No. 310, from the Bonhams sale of the contents of Trelissick House on 23 & 24 July 2013 [now removed]. Provenance: Inscription - in Italian and references Sir Douglas Galton's visit to Firenze in November 1891.
